The surgeon inputs the energy to be delivered to the fat in watts, the limit of skin temperature in degrees, and high and low limits of impedance on a user-friendly touch screen. Excessive heating of fat and/or dermis is avoided since all parameters are controlled in a closed loop system. In this procedure, the access incisions are only about 3 mm which is the diameter of the internal probe which delivers the energy. A power-assisted liposuction device is utilized to aspirate the liquefied fat.
